Social Media Video Creation Steps by Dinzei Maureen Marris

Step 1: Open CapCut

Open the CapCut app on your phone.

Tap New project.

If CapCut requires you to select media, look for Text, Templates, or another available option that lets you start without importing photos.

If your version does not allow a blank project, use a plain-colour background or create a text-based video using the available tools.

Step 2: Choose the video format

Open the editing workspace.

Find Ratio, Canvas, or Format, depending on your version.

Select 9:16 for WhatsApp Status, TikTok, Instagram Reels or Facebook Reels.

Choose a plain background colour, such as navy blue, white or black.

Step 3: Add a background

Look for Canvas, Background, or Colour.

Select a solid colour or gradient if available.

Extend the background to cover the duration of the video.

Step 4: Add your text

Tap Text.

Select Add text.

Type your opening message.

Choose a readable font, colour and size.

Position the text in the centre of the screen.

Adjust the text duration on the timeline.

Repeat the process to add more messages.

Step 5: Add text animations

Tap a text layer on the timeline.

Select Animation.

Choose an entrance animation, such as Fade In or Slide Up.

Add an exit animation if needed.

Keep animations simple and consistent.

Step 6: Add shapes and decorative elements

Look for Stickers, Shapes, or other graphic elements.

Add simple lines, circles, arrows or borders if available.

Use your brand colours consistently.

Avoid overcrowding the screen with too many elements.

Step 7: Add music or a voice-over

Tap Audio.

Choose available music or sound effects, or record your own voice-over.

For a voice-over, explain the message shown on the screen.

Adjust the volume so the speech remains clear.

Use audio that is permitted for your intended social media platform.

Step 8: Add transitions

If you have created separate text scenes or clips:

Select the transition control between clips, if available.

Choose a simple transition such as Fade.

Preview the video.

Make sure the text changes smoothly from one scene to another.

Step 9: Preview and edit

Before exporting:

Check spelling and grammar.

Ensure all text is readable on a mobile screen.

Make sure your contact details are correct.

Remove unnecessary effects.

Confirm that the video has a clear beginning, middle and ending.

Step 10: Export the video

Alternatively, record your voice explaining your services.

Reduce the music volume so viewers can hear your voice clearly.

Use music you have permission to use on your chosen platform.
