Adjectives
Adjectives are words that describe nouns and pronouns.
Types of Adjectives
1. Qualitative Adjectives: This adjective tells you something about the quality of someone or something. E.g
a. He has bought a new car.
b. She is a rich woman.
2. Qualifying Adjectives: This type of adjective tells us the amount of a thing. E.g.
a. I have had enough food.
b. I ate some loaves of bread.
3. Adjectives of Colour: This type of adjective tells us the colour of a thing. They include: green, blue, yellow, brown, etc. E.g.
a. She is wearing a bright yellow dress.
b. He is holding a green and white flag.
4.Adjective of Number: This type of adjective tells us exactly the number of persons or things
E.g
a. I saw only two people.
b. She is the first person to arrive.
5. Emphatic Adjectives: This type of adjective is used to emphasis feelings about something.
E.g:
a. He is a total stranger.
b. She made a serious mistake.
6. Interrogative Adjectives: This type of adjective is used to ask questions about the noun or pronoun. E.g:
a. Which car would you like to buy?
b. What is the name of your school?
7. Demonstrative Adjectives: These adjectives are used to demonstrate nouns in sentences.
E.g:
a. That woman is elegant.
b. These children are peaceful.
8. Possessive Adjectives: These adjectives is used to show that something belongs to someone. E.g:
a. These are are my students.
b. Nigerians obey their leaders.
