Army Cantonment Girls Alumni Reunion 2018

The Journey So Far

Army Cantonment Girls Alumni Reunion didn't start today the 8th of December 2018. It started about eight years ago with Fawale Deborah Suleman who saw a need for us to re-unite and then went ahead to create a Facebook page with the name "ACGSS EX STUDENT". The Facebook page started on a very low key with few alumni but today we can boast of about two hundred members and still counting!
     As time went on we saw a need to organize a reunion party where every alumni will converge in a location to reunite and share experience after so many years of graduation. The idea came to reality in November 2015 when Dinzei Maureen (Blozzom Everyday) one of the alumni created a WhatsApp group with the name "A.C.G.S.S. Alumni" for easy communication and easy planning of the reunion party. Finally the maiden edition of the reunion party took place on the 25th of December, 2015 at Sultan Beach Badagry, Lagos.
This year's re-union is one of its kind because its the school's 30th year anniversary and the reunion will be taking place in Lagos and Abuja concurrently.
We have been able to reach a larger number of alumni through the help of Osilokun Bolanle Bankole who worked tirelessly and effortlessly to ensure that this year's alumni reunion is a success. She was able to achieve this by creating a link to the WhatsApp group titled "ACGSS Meet and Greet" with over two hundred alumni. She went further to create an Instagram handle for the alumni "acgss_alumni". Through these social media platforms we have been able to connect with so many alumni ranging from 1993 set to 2017 set. We hope to connect more with other alumni so as to give back to our alma mata.
We pray that this alumni reunion will move to its greater heights!

 HISTORY OF ARMY CANTONMENT GIRLS SECONDAY SCHOOL OJO BARRACKS By:  EDAFE Deborah

ACGSS was founded on the 30th of November, 1988 by the then Military Government of Brigadier Raji Rasaki, at Ojo Military Cantonment, Badagry Expressway, Lagos. The school has recorded a total number of seven principals and the current Principal is Mrs Ziprebo. The school is made up of the junior secondary school (J.S.S.1-3) and the Senior Secondary School (S.S.1-3).


ACGSS was established for the purpose of creating a conducive academic environment for effective teaching and learning for staff and students. The school provides admission to Military and Civilian girls who resides within and outside the Army Barracks thereby promoting cordial relationship among them.
Furthermore, Army Cantonment Girls has sufficient and well qualified teaching and non- teaching staff as well as classrooms with science laboratories, art room and an enriched library so as to ensure a smooth teaching and learning process on a daily basis.
The school has various clubs and societies with extracurricular activities which includes Jet Club, Girls Guide, Literary and Debating Society and Drama  Club.
Army Cantonment Girls became thirty years old this year and has produced high profile career women in all walks of life including Doctors, Lawyers, Military Personnel, Bankers, Teachers, Politicians,  Actresses, Fashion Designers and Journalists.
